- To promote understanding of the meaning and nature of government
- To foster understanding of the structures of government, their functions and interaction
- To develop a positive attitude towards government
- To foster understanding of the functions of the different levels of government
- To promote understanding of how national events and international relations influence the Gambia
Content:
- Purpose of government
- Arms of government
- Central and local government
- Gambia Government and the international community e.g. United Nations, Commonwealth, ECOWAS, African Union and etc.
- Local contemporary issues
Knowledge:
- Understanding government as an institution charged with managing the affairs of the state through the will of the people
- Understanding the relationship between the various arms of government
- Understand the roles of central and local government
- Understanding of international issues, world citizenship and matters relevant to the Gambia Awareness of contemporary issues as and when they arise
Skills:
- Ability to participate in the electoral processes
- Ability to participate effectively in the affairs of state at central and local level

- Willingness to participate in the governing process
- Informed citizenry
